We are pleased to announce that Richvale Elementary will become Richvale Charter Academy next year!  We are excited to offer electives in STEM, Agriculture, Art, and music!  We have exciting opportunities for performances such as the Christmas Production, Melodies, and Spring Sing. Our teachers provide strong academic programs such as Building Thinking Classrooms and Project based learning!

Grades 1-6 will be offered next year, with the hope of expanding to TK-8 in the near future!  We have openings in all grades. Contact Kelly Lewis at 868-1281 for enrollment information.  You may also stop by the Biggs Unified School District office or Biggs Elementary School to obtain enrollment forms.  Email Tracey McPeters tmcpeters@biggs.org with any questions, or to schedule an appointment, or a tour.

Come visit the Open House on May 8th at Richvale Elementary!  Spring Sing is in the gym at 6:00.  Open House begins at 6:30 inside the classrooms.  Meet the teachers, the principal, and visit classrooms to get a feel for our school!

Tracey McPeters Principal

Hi, I am Tracey McPeters and I am currently the principal at Richvale and Biggs Middle School. My experience in the classroom and as an administrator has always been in small schools in rural communities. I love small schools and the opportunity to work closely with families and the community.  I believe that all students are capable of learning and students learn best when engaged in projects and activities that are meaningful to them and connect across different subjects.  Richvale Elementary is a unique school with dedicated teachers, an opportunity for hands-on learning and creativity, and strong family and community engagement.  I am excited that it will now become Richvale Charter Academy and provide opportunities for students outside our community to benefit from our great programs and culture.

Elizabeth Terpening 5th and 6th grade combo

Hello, My name is Elizabeth Terpening, and I am the 5th and 6th grade teacher at Richvale. I received my teaching credential through Chico State, and I am working on my Masters Degree in Agriculture Education. I believe students are most successful when participating in hands-on learning. My students engage in many science experiments, and participate in project based learning. In my classroom we have dissected frogs, grown bacteria, and experimented with cells under a microscope. We will also be starting a school garden project to take our learning outside. I am very grateful to be teaching at such an amazing small town school. Richvale has so much to offer, and I am looking forward to seeing it grow.

Jill Pearson 3rd and 4th grade combo
My name is Jill Pearson. I am  a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at Richvale Elementary. With nearly 20 years of experience in education, I am passionate about identifying each student's strengths and helping them build confidence as they develop new skills. I find great joy in seeing students thrive through engaging and challenging activities and lessons. Being a teacher allows me to create engaging, project-based lessons that integrate multiple curricular areas, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable for my students. I feel so fortunate to teach in a small, rural farm community where families are actively involved in their children's education, creating a supportive and enriching learning environment. I am thrilled to be part of this new journey as Richvale transitions into the newest charter school in Butte County. Our school will offer STEAM education, project-based learning, hands-on science and social studies units, as well as music, theater, and the arts, providing students with a dynamic and enriching learning experience.

Wendy Hall 1st and 2nd grade combo

Hello! My name is Wendy Hall and I currently teach the 1st and 2nd grade combination class at RES.  My history with this school goes back to a time when my own children attended this special place!  The heart of the Richvale community is strong and I appreciate the way our students are supported year after year.
I have been involved in education in some way since getting my credential in 1994 at CSU Chico.  I have worked for both public and private schools.  I also homeschooled my own children  through CORE Butte Charter school for a season. I believe that each student is unique and learns in their own way. They are also capable of way more than they think.  As a teacher, it is my goal to help each student know what we are doing and why we are doing it.  I also want them to discover the best working environment for themselves and understand the way their  brain functions.  I encourage students to have a growth mindset and be metacognitive by asking questions, reflecting and monitoring their progress.   In our classroom, we work as a team to build each other up and celebrate our successes while also working through the hard stuff and encouraging each other. We are problem solvers, communicators and friends at Richvale Elementary School.
